Assignar Pay Product Release – September 21, 2026
TL;DR
- Payroll matching that follows the shift, not just the clock-in — activity can now be matched using the shift-end time, so overnight and late-finishing crews pick up the right pay rules when a shift crosses a time boundary.
- Pay outcomes you can review with more confidence — clearer pay breakdowns, weekend penalties, public-holiday handling, and fortnight totals help payroll teams check the week before it leaves.
- A scheduler that shows more of the plan — cards can display more useful information, and crew changes, hire rows, and day menus are easier to work with when the board is moving.
- Job costing that catches up when the pay run finishes — labour costs refresh after a completed pay run, so project and finance teams see updated numbers sooner.
- Safer attachments and clearer commercial records — form-submission files use time-limited access links, and invoice, quote, and supplier-invoice activity now shows who created or changed a record.
Context
This release reflects work from September 13 – September 20, 2026 — a week focused on more dependable payroll matching and review, clearer scheduling and job costing, stronger rate and charge-rule management, and safer everyday access so site and office teams process timesheets, plan crews, and close commercial paperwork with fewer surprises.

What's new
Smarter payroll matching for shifts that cross time boundaries
Overnight and late-finishing crews no longer have to hope the clock-in time alone picks the right rule. Payroll activity can now be matched using the shift-end time, so the award or EBA that should apply at the end of the shift is the one that lands on the timesheet.
What it does:
- Match payroll activity using the shift-end time — apply the correct pay rules when a shift crosses midnight, a penalty window, or another time boundary
- Fewer “wrong rule on the overnight” reviews — the finish of the shift can drive matching instead of only the start
- More dependable classification on mixed days — late finishes and split windows are less likely to pick up yesterday’s rule
Where you'll find it: Pay Rates and Timesheets when activity is matched and pay is applied. Process a timesheet whose shift crosses a time boundary and confirm the matched activity and pay rules. See Payroll Processing Guide and Timesheets.
Who benefits: Payroll admins applying awards and EBAs to night and late crews, and project managers who have had to re-check a timesheet that started on one day and finished on another.
More accurate pay outcomes
Pay reviews are easier to trust. Breakdowns, weekend penalties, public-holiday handling, and fortnight totals are clearer, so office teams can confirm the week against the award before export.
What it does:
- Improved pay breakdowns — see how hours and amounts were classified with more confidence
- Clearer weekend-penalty outcomes — Saturday and Sunday loadings are easier to review against the timesheet
- Better public-holiday handling — holiday pay follows the calendar and the rule more reliably
- More reliable fortnight totals — period totals line up better when you work on a fortnightly cycle
Where you'll find it: Pay Rates → Weekly Summary / the pay breakdown after Apply Pay Rates. Confirm weekend, public-holiday, and fortnight totals on a processed week. See Pay Rates, Public Holiday Calendars, and Payroll Cycles.
Who benefits: Payroll admins checking a mixed week, finance exporting a fortnight, and anyone who has had to reconcile a holiday or weekend loading by hand.
More flexible scheduling
The board carries more of the information planners need on the card, and everyday board work — crew changes, hire rows, and day menus — is smoother when the week is moving.
What it does:
- Scheduler cards can show more useful information — see more of what matters on the card without opening every allocation
- Smoother crew changes — update who is on the job with less friction
- Clearer hire-row handling — hired plant and people are easier to manage on the board
- Improved day menus — day-level actions are easier to find and use when you are planning a date
Where you'll find it: Scheduler on the board. Review a card, change a crew, work a hire row, and open a day menu on a date you are planning. See Scheduling, The Board, and Crews.
Who benefits: Ops leads and dispatchers planning the week, foremen checking who and what is on a job, and project managers adjusting crews when the site plan changes.
Job costing that updates when the pay run completes
Labour cost on the job should not sit on last week’s numbers after payroll has already closed. Job costing now refreshes when a pay run is completed, so project and finance teams see updated labour costs sooner.
What it does:
- Job costing refreshes after a completed pay run — labour costs update when payroll is done, not only when someone remembers to re-open the job
- Updated labour costs sooner — project and finance decisions can use the latest processed pay
- Fewer “the job still shows last week’s labour” conversations — costing and payroll stay closer together after the run
Where you'll find it: Complete a pay run, then open Job Costing on the related order. Confirm labour costs reflect the completed run. See Job Costing and Payroll Processing Guide.
Who benefits: Project managers watching labour against the bid, cost controllers updating a forecast, and finance reviewing a job after the pay file has gone.
Stronger Schedule of Rates and charge-rule management
Schedule of Rates is easier to keep accurate when you are maintaining charge rules, matching roles, coding items, and copying a rate you already use.
What it does:
- Easier charge-rule management — set and review how work is charged with less friction
- Clearer role matching — connect rates to the roles that should use them
- Smoother cost-code handling on rate items — keep billing and costing codes with the item
- Clearer item details — rate-item information is easier to review and maintain
- More reliable duplicated rate items — copy a rate item without losing the detail you already set up
Where you'll find it: Schedule of Rates when you create, edit, or duplicate a rate item, charge rule, role match, or cost code. See Schedule of Rates and Cost Codes.
Who benefits: Commercial leads maintaining a live SOR, estimators copying a rate onto the next job, and payroll or costing admins who need the right role and cost code on the item.
Clearer invoice, quote, and supplier-invoice activity
Commercial records now carry more useful context — including who created or changed an invoice, quote, or supplier invoice — so it is faster to answer “who last touched this?” without leaving the record.
What it does:
- Richer invoice activity — more context on what changed on a customer invoice
- Richer quote activity — see commercial edits with clearer history
- Richer supplier-invoice activity — payables changes are easier to follow
- Who created or changed the record — attribution stays with the invoice, quote, or supplier invoice
Where you'll find it: Open an Invoice, Quote, or Supplier Invoice and review the activity on that record. See Invoicing, Quotes, and Supplier Invoices.
Who benefits: Project managers and commercial leads defending a claim or quote revision, and finance answering who raised or changed a supplier invoice before payment.
Safer form-submission file access
Opening a form attachment should be straightforward — and it should not leave a long-lived link sitting around. Form-submission files now use more reliable, time-limited access links.
What it does:
- Time-limited access links for form-submission files — attachments open through a short-lived link instead of a long-lived one
- More reliable file opening — fewer broken or stalled attachment links when you review a submission
- Better protection for sensitive documents — site photos, tickets, and other form attachments are harder to share accidentally after the link expires
Where you'll find it: Forms → Submissions → open a submission that has attachments. Open a file and confirm it loads through the time-limited link. See Submissions.
Who benefits: Office teams reviewing SWMS, tickets, and site photos on a submission, and anyone sharing a form file who needs the link to expire.
Permissions, everyday polish, and platform care
Access settings are enforced more consistently, and everyday surfaces — reports, forms, timestamps, and dashboards — interrupt people less. Small workflow improvements also cut friction when you import a form template, find a cost code, or assign a worker pay rate.
What it does:
- More consistent permission enforcement — access settings apply more reliably across the surfaces that already use them
- Fewer interruptions on reports, forms, timestamps, and dashboards — everyday review work is steadier
- Easier form-template importing and duplication — copy or bring in a template with less friction. See Document Templates
- More visible cost-code identifiers — codes are easier to recognise when you pick or review them. See Cost Codes
- Better chart labels and long-list navigation — charts and long lists are easier to read and move through. See Charts and Pivots and Dashboards
- More helpful worker pay-rate management — assigning and reviewing worker rates is clearer. See Workers
- Improved account terminology on Dockets and invoice templates — labels stay consistent with how the rest of the product talks about the organisation. See Dockets and Invoicing
- Additional safeguards against incorrect pricing or rule selections — harder to save the wrong price or pay rule
- Refreshed platform services and stronger access checks — the product stays current, stable, and secure behind the scenes
Where you'll find it: Across Forms, Cost Codes, Reports / Dashboards, Pay Rates → Workers, Dockets, invoice templates, and the access settings you already use — no extra setup for these reliability updates.
Who benefits: Account owners and admins protecting workspace access, payroll and commercial teams picking rates and cost codes, and everyone who lives in reports, forms, and dashboards during a busy week.
Why it matters for construction teams
- Overnight shifts pick up the right rule: When a crew clocks on before midnight and finishes after, matching on the shift-end time keeps the timesheet closer to the EBA — fewer Monday corrections after a night pour or a late shutdown.
- A pay review you can finish in one pass: Clearer breakdowns, weekend penalties, public-holiday handling, and fortnight totals shorten the path from “does this week match the award?” to an export you can stand behind.
- The board shows more of the plan: Richer scheduler cards, plus smoother crew changes, hire rows, and day menus, cut the clicks between “who is on this job Tuesday?” and an answer the foreman can use.
- Labour cost follows the pay run: Job costing that refreshes when payroll completes means a project meeting after payday can use this week’s labour, not last week’s — useful when an SOV line, variation, or forecast is being challenged.
- Rates and charges stay maintainable: Charge rules, role matching, cost codes, item details, and duplicated SOR items are easier to keep accurate as the job and the crew change.
- A commercial trail you can take into the meeting: Invoice, quote, and supplier-invoice activity that includes who created or changed the record answers “who last touched this claim?” without a hunt through email.
- Attachments that open — and then expire: Time-limited form-submission links make it easier to open a ticket or site photo, and harder to leave a sensitive file reachable after the review is done.
Getting started
- Shift-end payroll matching: Open Pay Rates and process a Timesheet whose shift crosses midnight or another time boundary. Confirm the matched activity and pay rules follow the shift-end time. See Payroll Processing Guide.
- Pay outcomes: After Apply Pay Rates, open the Weekly Summary / pay breakdown. Check a weekend day, a public holiday, and a fortnight total if you run a fortnightly cycle. See Public Holiday Calendars and Payroll Cycles.
- Scheduler: Open Scheduler. Confirm a card shows the extra information you need, then try a crew change, a hire row, and a day menu on a date you are planning. See The Board and Crews.
- Job costing: Complete a pay run, then open Job Costing on the related order and confirm labour costs have refreshed. See Job Costing.
- Schedule of Rates: Open Schedule of Rates. Edit or duplicate a rate item and confirm charge rules, role matching, cost codes, and item details. See Schedule of Rates.
- Commercial activity: Open an Invoice, Quote, or Supplier Invoice and review activity — including who created or changed the record. See Invoicing, Quotes, and Supplier Invoices.
- Form attachments: Open Forms → Submissions, open a submission with files, and confirm the attachment opens through a time-limited link. See Submissions.
- Everyday polish: Import or duplicate a form template, confirm cost-code identifiers are visible, scan a long report or dashboard list, and review a worker’s pay-rate assignment. Check Dockets and invoice templates for the updated account terminology.
Permissions: Pay Rates, Timesheets, Scheduler, Job Costing, Schedule of Rates, Invoices, Quotes, Supplier Invoices, Forms, Cost Codes, Reports, Dockets, and Workers use the same access already required for those modules. Scheduling access is covered in Setup & Access. Form submission access is covered in Form permissions.

Release details
Rollout: Updates in this note are rolling out on the standard Assignar Pay release cadence across accounts. Shift-end payroll matching, pay-breakdown / weekend-penalty / public-holiday / fortnight-total improvements, scheduler card and board updates, job-costing refresh after a completed pay run, Schedule of Rates charge-rule and item improvements, invoice / quote / supplier-invoice activity context, time-limited form-submission file links, permission enforcement, and the everyday polish and platform updates listed here apply on the normal release path.
Payroll: Timesheets already processed keep their stored pay until they are re-processed. A release alone does not rewrite calculated pay. Sequence re-processing against your payroll cutoff so a corrected period does not disagree with one already exported.
Job costing: Labour costs refresh when a pay run is completed. Open the related order after the run to confirm the update.
Form attachments: Time-limited links apply when you open files on a form submission. A link that has expired needs a fresh open from the submission.
