What's new

Find work packs by project and due date

A long work-pack list is slow to scan on a phone between jobs. Pay Mobile can now filter work packs by project and due date, so the pack you need is easier to open.

What it does:

  • Filter by project — narrow the list to the job you are standing on
  • Filter by due date — surface packs by when they are due
  • Less scrolling between inspections — open the next pack without hunting through unrelated work

Who benefits: Foremen and field crews moving between work packs on site, and project managers who need a due pack opened without a phone call back to the office.

Sign off a work pack in one tap

Drawing a signature on a phone for every sign-off slows a walk. Pay Mobile can sign off a work pack in one tap using a saved signature.

What it does:

  • One-tap sign-off — apply a signature you have already saved
  • Same sign-off, less redrawing — useful when several packs or checkpoints need the same signature in one visit
  • Faster close-out on site — the sign-off is captured in Pay Mobile while you are still on the pack

Who benefits: Field staff signing inspection points, and supervisors who currently redraw the same signature on every pack.

A messaging inbox that stays in Pay Mobile

Site and office can keep the thread in Pay Mobile: a dedicated inbox, message threads, announcements, and chat-style conversations. Teams can keep work moving without switching between tools.

What it does:

  • A dedicated inbox — conversations live in one place in Pay Mobile
  • Message threads — follow one conversation through to the reply
  • Announcements — reach a crew from the same inbox
  • Chat-style conversations — talk the way a site thread actually runs

Where you'll find it: In Pay Mobile, tap the envelope at the top of the Home screen, or open More → Messages. The inbox lists Announcements first, then Conversations. See Messages.

Who benefits: Foremen coordinating a crew, project managers sending a site update, and field workers who need the thread on the phone they already carry.

Photos and files inside the message

Updates that used to leave the app as a separate photo or email can stay in the conversation. Pay Mobile can send and view photos and files directly in messages.

What it does:

  • Send photos and files from the message — attach them where the conversation already is
  • View them in Pay Mobile — open the update without leaving the thread
  • Richer site updates — a photo of the work, or a file the crew needs, travels with the message

Where you'll find it: In a Pay Mobile conversation, tap the paperclip and choose Take photo, Photo library, or File. Attachments stay off until someone who manages messaging switches on Allow attachments. See Messages.

Who benefits: Crews sending a site photo with the update, and office staff who need the file in the same thread as the instruction.

Notifications that open the conversation

Pay Mobile's messaging now includes message notifications on Android, direct-message preferences, and the ability to open a conversation from a notification.

What it does:

  • Message notifications on Android — a new message can reach the phone
  • Direct-message preferences — choose how direct messages notify you
  • Open the conversation from the notification — tap the notification and land in that thread

Where you'll find it: Notifications arrive on the phone. Tap one to open that conversation. See Messages.

Who benefits: Field workers on Android who need to see a message without opening the app first, and anyone who wants direct messages handled differently from other conversations.

More dependable check-in, check-out, and timesheets

Recording time on site stays with the crew. This update improves mobile check-in and check-out flexibility, refines timesheet display, and strengthens sign-in. Field teams can record time with fewer interruptions, and managers can have more confidence in what was submitted.

What it does:

  • More flexible check-in and check-out — mobile check-in and check-out give field teams more flexibility when they record time
  • Clearer timesheet display — the timesheet is easier to read on the phone
  • A stronger sign-in — getting into the app is more dependable before time is recorded

Who benefits: Field crews clocking on and off, foremen reviewing a timesheet on site, and payroll admins who rely on the submitted timesheet once it reaches the office.

The right offline window, and cleaner forms

Connectivity on site is uneven. Pay Mobile now prepares the correct offline availability window for each organisation, so teams can open what they need when the signal is limited. Unnecessary form elements were also removed, which keeps screens cleaner.

What it does:

  • An offline window per organisation — Pay Mobile prepares the correct offline availability window for that organisation
  • Access when connectivity is limited — the data prepared for offline use is the data that organisation should have
  • Cleaner forms — screens drop form elements that were not needed

Who benefits: Crews working basements, remote sites, or anywhere the signal drops, and anyone filling a form on a small screen.

Pay Mobile 2.8.0 and 2.9.0

The app includes the latest supported Expo platform patches and release improvements. That keeps compatibility, stability, and the security posture in line as phone operating systems move on. Pay Mobile 2.8.0 and 2.9.0 are part of this delivery.

What it does:

  • Current platform patches — the app stays on supported Expo updates
  • Steadier day-to-day use — release improvements aimed at compatibility and stability
  • A stronger security posture — the app keeps up as mobile operating systems change

Where you'll find it: Update Pay Mobile to 2.8.0 or 2.9.0. There is no separate switch for these platform updates.

Who benefits: Every Pay Mobile user, and account owners who need the field app to stay compatible and stable.

Why it matters for construction teams

  • The next work pack is easier to find. Filtering by project and due date shortens the gap between arriving on site and opening the pack that is actually due — useful on a day with several inspections.
  • Sign-off stays on site. A saved signature applied in one tap keeps the work pack sign-off on the phone while the crew is still at the work.
  • The thread stays with the job. Inbox, threads, announcements, and chat in Pay Mobile mean a foreman can update a crew without jumping to another messaging app, and the office sees the same conversation.
  • A photo stays with the instruction. Sending a site photo or file inside the message cuts the "I'll text it separately" step that loses context before payroll or the project review.
  • Timesheets arrive with fewer gaps. More flexible check-in and check-out, a clearer timesheet, and a stronger sign-in mean field time is recorded with fewer interruptions — and managers have a cleaner submission to review.
  • Forms stay usable when coverage is poor. An offline window for that organisation, plus simpler form screens, keeps field work moving on a limited connection.

Getting started

  • Work pack filters: Open work packs in Pay Mobile and filter by project and due date.
  • Saved signature: Sign off a work pack in Pay Mobile using the saved signature.
  • Messages: Tap the envelope at the top of the Home screen, or open More → Messages. Read Announcements and Conversations, and start or continue a thread from the inbox. See Messages.
  • Photos and files: Open a conversation, tap the paperclip, and choose Take photo, Photo library, or File. If the paperclip is missing, ask someone who manages messaging to switch on Allow attachments.
  • Notifications: On Android, confirm a new message notifies the phone, then tap the notification and confirm it opens that conversation. Review direct-message notification preferences.
  • Time and attendance: Sign in, check in, and check out on a live or test shift, then open the timesheet and confirm the display.
  • Offline: Use Pay Mobile on a limited connection and confirm the data you need is available for your organisation.
  • App version: Update Pay Mobile and confirm you are on 2.8.0 or 2.9.0.

Permissions: Messages keep the access already required to read and send them. Owners, Admins, Managers, and Field users can read and send; announcements and Allow attachments are managed by people who already manage messaging. See Messages. Work packs, timesheets, check-in, and sign-in use the Pay Mobile access those flows already require.
