Views, Scales & Layouts

The board has three independent controls for how it reads: the axis (what a row is), the scale (how wide a day column is drawn), and the layout (grid or cards). The axis sits as tabs on the left of the toolbar; everything else lives in the View menu. Your choices are kept in the URL, so a board view can be bookmarked and shared.

The View menu

The toolbar's View trigger prints the current answer — Grid · Week — and carries a dot when anything behind it is off its default. Inside:

• Show as — Grid or Card.
• Timeline — the column scale (Day / Week / Month) and the window length. Columns are always days at every scale; the scale sets how wide a day is drawn and which unit the window length counts in.
• Group & sort and Fields — how the board is drawn and what each row prints.
• Expand / collapse all cards, in Card layout.

Column scale and window length

The scale sets column density; the window length sets how much time is on screen.

Day scale replaces the vertical stack of demand cards with a horizontal requirement band, so the day's whole shape is readable in one line. Month scale keeps the same day actions — filling a slot, editing a day — available on the compressed columns.

Axes — what a row is

Switch the axis — the tabs at the left of the toolbar — to pivot the same window. The three read as destinations rather than a setting, because each is a board with its own rows and its own resource list:

• Orders — rows are orders, cells are that order's demand for the day. This is the axis you allocate on.
• Workers — rows are people, cells are the shifts each person holds that day.
• Assets — rows are machines, cells are the shifts each machine holds that day.

On the Workers and Assets axes you can read and inspect, but not yet allocate: there is no drag-to-allocate, move or remove on these rows today — allocation happens on the Orders axis. Each row shows the resource's shifts, coloured by the order's status, and at month scale a continuous run of work draws as a single bar labelled with the order reference, role and shift times as the bar's width allows. Click a shift to see its detail and jump to the order.

Each resource axis also has a row-set toggle — All resources, or only those Booked in the window — and its own remembered search box, so a large workforce stays navigable.

Grid and Card layouts

On the Orders axis you can switch between:

• Grid — the timeline described in The Board.
• Card — one card per order for a single day, showing the day's roles, fill counts and allocated people. Card layout is a day view: switching to it moves you to a one-day window. It is currently offered on the Orders axis only. Role time ranges that cross midnight show a moon icon next to the times. Crew chips on the card open Edit or Remove {name} from this day — see Crews.

Card layout carries its own header strip with the order count, search and Filter, since it has no rail. Cards expand and collapse (with expand-all / collapse-all from the View menu), roles inside a card are selectable so the Resources drawer can recommend for the role you're pointing at, and the day-level actions from the grid's ⋮ menu are available on the card too. The role-less lane is counted in the card's totals, and a card badges when someone is allocated but isn't covering the demand that's short.

Fields

Fields (in the View menu) controls which fields the board prints, so you can strip it back to just what you're working on. Toggle the order details — status, status tint, location, client, project, dates — and the schedule details — shift times, fill counts, allocated resources — individually or all at once. Those are order-row fields, so they appear on the Orders axis only. The day-header utilisation switch is there too, and applies on every axis.

Resource chips have their own display settings in the drawer: show roles, show asset class, show tags. The toolbar itself sheds labels as the window narrows, so the controls stay on one row at laptop widths.
