The Resources Drawer

Find the right worker, asset or crew: search, roles and tags, availability signals, recommendations, and the resource detail modal.

The Resources Drawer

The Resources panel on the right of the board is where you find who to allocate. It has three tabs — Workers, Assets and Crews — and each is searchable and built to stay fast on a large workforce (the list loads more as you scroll rather than fetching everyone at once).

What a resource row shows

Each row carries the resource's identity so you can tell two similar people or machines apart: name and photo, their roles (for workers) or asset class (for machines), and their tags, coloured to match Assignar Operations. On the Assets list and in the Assignar import preview, an asset's Description appears in muted text under its name when one is set. Use the drawer's display settings to turn roles, class and tags on or off.

Tag filter. Filter the list to one or more tags — worker tags and plant tags both. Your tag filter is remembered between visits.

Availability signals

When you have a day (or a range of days) in play, every resource in the list carries an availability signal, so you can see who is free without opening anything:

SignalMeaning
AvailableNothing booked on any of the selected days.
Booked todayBooked that day, but at a time that doesn't overlap the shift you're filling — you weigh travel and fatigue.
ConflictA booked window that genuinely overlaps the target shift.
Off night shiftComing off an overnight shift that runs into the day, with the time the tail ends.

Signals are time-overlap-aware, and handle overnight shifts correctly. They are computed from what is booked on the board across the days in play — leave, rosters and competency are not part of the signal today. While occupancy is still loading, rows show a pending badge rather than claiming everyone is free.

The signals recommend, they don't restrict: a busy resource is flagged and sunk to the bottom of the list, never hidden and never blocked. The dispatcher has context the system doesn't.

When you point at a specific requirement — by clicking a role on a card, or by opening a card's add dialog — the drawer switches to a Recommended list for that role: only resources eligible for it, ranked available-first, labelled with the role they're recommended for. Long lists are capped with a "showing top N" note. Clearing the selection returns you to the full list.

The ranking is deterministic and rules-based — eligibility (role or asset class match) plus the availability signal above, with ties left in name order.

Selecting and dragging

  • Drag a row onto a demand card, a day cell or the role-less lane to allocate.
  • Multi-select several resources in the drawer and drag them onto the board as one drop.
  • Select several days on the board first and one drop fans the allocation across all of them — the drawer tells you how many days you're adding to.

See Allocating Workers & Assets for what happens on drop.

The resource detail modal

Click a resource (in the drawer or a placed chip) to open its detail:

  • Deployments in this window — every shift the resource holds across the visible range, so you can see their week before committing them to another job.
  • Attributes — edit the resource's tags and roles (workers) or asset class (assets) directly, without leaving the board. Changing an asset's class also re-points its job-costing cost codes, and the modal says so before you save.

Crews

The Crews tab holds saved sets of resources that deploy together. See Crews.
