Linked Results

Open a project or an order and select Linked results, the tab beside Photos. It answers a different question from the gallery: not which photos exist, but which records they came out of — the workpacks and the Field responses tied to the project or order you are looking at.

What lands here, and what never will

On a project, a Workpack card appears when the workpack belongs to that project, or when one of its activities sits on one of that project's orders. On an order, it appears when at least one of its activities carries that order.

A Field response card appears once somebody fills a form in and their answers name this project or this order — or an order under this project — or the response was raised from a workpack activity that belongs here.

Attaching a form to a workpack activity under Linked forms puts nothing here on its own. That ties the activity to a blank form; a card arrives only once somebody completes it.

Linked Forms is a different feature again, with its own page: one form pulling values out of another form's responses, and follow-up forms raised automatically. Nothing it does puts a card here.

Take the project or the order out of a response's answers and its card leaves that tab; put one in and the card arrives.

Switch between the two kinds

The panel shows one kind at a time. Select Workpacks or Field responses above the list — the tab opens on Workpacks.

Each of those two buttons carries a number: the total for that kind under the status filter applied to it. Both are counted at once, so you can see how many Field responses there are without leaving Workpacks.

A zero means there really are none. No number at all means the total could not be read, which is not the same thing.

Beside the heading is a second number, reading Showing 50 so far. That one is how many rows you have loaded of the kind on screen, not a total. Rows arrive 50 at a time behind Load more, so past 50 the two numbers disagree, correctly.

Load more stays on screen once there is anything to show, and goes grey when you reach the end of the list.

Filter by status

One Status control sits above the list, and it applies only to the kind on screen.

Workpacks have eight statuses: Draft, Submitted, Approved, Active, Re-approval pending, Rejected, Closed, and Archived.

Field responses have three: Draft, Active, and Archived.

The two selections are kept apart. Filter Workpacks to Rejected, switch to Field responses and back, and Rejected is still applied — nothing on screen says the other kind is filtered differently, though its number is counted under its own selection.

What a card tells you

Every card opens with two badges — the kind, Workpack or Field response, and the status — followed by the title and the time.

A workpack card is titled with the workpack's name, and selecting that title opens the workpack. A Field response card is titled with the form's name, so ten responses to the same form look identical apart from their time. A title left blank reads Untitled.

The time is relative, such as "3 days ago". For a workpack it is when the pack was submitted, or when it was created if it has not been submitted yet. For a Field response it is when the latest version was saved, so editing a response moves it back to the top of the list.

Under that, up to two lines name the records the result belongs to: a Project: line and an Order: line, each naming the record and linking to it. The line pointing back at the page you are already standing on is left off.

A line only appears when you can open the record it names, so two people looking at the same card can see different lines.

Three things about those lines catch people out:

• A workpack whose activities span several orders shows one Order: line, not one per order.
• On a project, a workpack that arrived through one of your orders names its own project on the Project: line — a different project from the one you are on.
• A Field response tied to more than one project names one of them, and not necessarily the one whose tab you are on.

See the photos behind a record

Every card carries View photos. Select it and the page moves you to the Photos tab and narrows the gallery to that one record.

The gallery then shows a banner naming the record, with Show all photos to undo it. The gallery's own Reset filters clears the record too, and hands back the whole project or order.

View photos is offered whether or not that record has any pictures. When it has none, the gallery reads No photos from followed by the record's name.

For a workpack, View photos shows the files attached to the workpack itself. Photos captured inside a Field response raised from one of its activities sit on that response's own card instead.

The move happens inside the page and does not change the address. The browser Back button will not undo it, and you cannot bookmark a narrowed gallery or send one to anyone.

When the list is not what you expect

A failed read shows Failed to load results: Something went wrong while executing the operation. with a Try Again button. When rows had already loaded, the message appears above them and Try Again resumes from the page that failed rather than starting over.

An empty tab reads No linked workpacks or No linked Field responses — the same single line whether a status filter is hiding rows or the record genuinely has nothing. Check the Status control above the list before you conclude there is nothing there.

The panel serves data up to five minutes old, and it does not refresh when you come back to the window. A workpack created or a form submitted in another browser tab will not appear, and neither number moves, until that time is up or you reload the page. There is no refresh control.

Leaving Linked results resets it. Come back and you are on Workpacks with both status selections cleared — including after a trip through View photos. The Photos tab's own filters reset the same way when you leave it.

There is no search box, no date filter and no sort control here. The list is always newest first.
