Assignar Pay Product Release – September 07, 2026

A summary of what's new, why it matters, and how to get started.

Assignar Pay Product Release – September 07, 2026

TL;DR

  • RFIs live in the workpack record — Requests for Information are now first-class workpack documents, so project correspondence stays with the job instead of living in inboxes and shared drives.
  • Compliance records in one place — Organisation settings now include a clearer compliance document register, so certificates and policies are easier to find when someone asks.
  • Payroll and commercial numbers you can trust — More accurate allowances when role links are used, labour crew rates from dockets, equipment pricing from forms, and smarter minimum-engagement and RDO rules.
  • Less admin on dockets and orders — Cost-code and order information stays more reliable across project workflows, and docket sources of record can resolve automatically.
  • Smoother everyday work — Clearer export downloads, unsaved workpack activity warnings, expanded photo-library filters with AI captions, and crew-move offers that show the relevant role.

Context

This release reflects work from August 30 – September 6, 2026 — a week focused on keeping project correspondence on the workpack, clearer compliance records, more accurate payroll and commercial pricing, and steadier day-to-day workflows so site and office teams manage subcontractors, timesheets, documents, and project data with greater confidence.

Themes from the week

  • Workpacks & correspondence: RFIs are first-class workpack documents, so questions, answers, and project correspondence stay connected to field activity.
  • Compliance: A clearer compliance document register in organisation settings helps teams keep important records organised and visible.
  • Payroll & commercial accuracy: Allowances with role links, labour crew rates on dockets, equipment pricing from forms, and smarter minimum-engagement and RDO rules.
  • Project data: More reliable cost-code and order information, plus automatic resolution of docket sources of record so teams spend less time on manual administration.
  • Everyday usability: Export dialogs that make downloading files obvious, unsaved workpack activity edits that are harder to miss, expanded photo-library filters with clearer AI-generated captions, and scheduler crew-move offers that show the relevant role.
  • Trust and reliability: Stronger account-level access controls, workspace isolation, safer acting-user workflows, improved API-key protection, and more consistent permission checks — plus quieter data-access and performance work behind the scenes.

These weekly summaries are indexed for the Assignar Pay Support Agent so guidance stays aligned with what actually shipped.

What's new

RFIs are now first-class workpack documents

Teams can treat Requests for Information as part of the workpack record — not a side conversation. Important project correspondence is easier to find, manage, and keep connected to field activity.

What it does:

  • RFIs as a workpack document type — raise, issue, and close a numbered question against a project alongside ITPs and submittals
  • Correspondence on the job record — keep the question, who was asked, and the answers with the workpack instead of hunting through email
  • Connected to field activity — the RFI stays on the same project record your site and office teams already use

Where you'll find it: WorkpacksNew workpack → leave the template on No template — blank workpack → choose Request for Information (RFI) as the document type. A project is required. See Requests for Information (RFIs) and Workpacks.

Who benefits: Project managers chasing design or site clarifications, quality leads keeping the project record complete, and site teams who need the answer in the same place as the workpack.

A clearer compliance document register

Organisation settings now support a clearer compliance document register, so important records are easier to organise and keep visible when someone asks “do we have that certificate?”

What it does:

  • Compliance document register in organisation settings — keep compliance records in one place instead of scattered files
  • Clearer organisation and visibility — important documents are easier to find when a client, auditor, or principal contractor asks

Where you'll find it: SettingsCompliance (organisation settings).

Who benefits: Office admins maintaining certificates and policies, project managers answering pre-start and tender questions, and anyone who has lost time hunting for a compliance file.

More accurate payroll and commercial pricing

Pay and charge outcomes stay closer to how the crew actually worked — especially when role links, docket crew rates, form-captured equipment prices, and award rules for minimum engagement and RDOs are in play.

What it does:

  • More accurate payroll allowances when role links are used — allowances follow the linked role more reliably
  • Better support for labour crew rates declared on dockets — crew rates captured on the docket flow through more dependably
  • Improved handling of equipment pricing captured through forms — plant prices entered in a form are applied more consistently
  • Smarter application of minimum-engagement and RDO rules — guaranteed hours and rostered days off apply more reliably on the days and weeks that need them
  • More reliable cost-code and order information across project workflows — codes and order details stay consistent from the field record to the office review
  • Automatic resolution of docket sources of record — less manual matching when a docket needs its source of record

Where you'll find it:

  • Allowances and role links: Pay Rates → a rule group → Allowance Rules. See Allowance Rules.
  • Minimum engagement and RDO: Pay Rates → a rule group → Minimum Engagement and RDO Rules. See Minimum Engagement Rules and RDO Rules.
  • Docket crew rates, cost codes, and sources of record: Dockets. See Dockets.
  • Equipment pricing from forms: Forms submissions that capture equipment pricing, then the related docket or pay review.

Who benefits: Payroll admins applying awards and EBAs, commercial leads reviewing docket rates before an invoice, and finance teams reconciling cost codes on the job.

Smoother day-to-day workflows

Small frictions that slow a busy week — downloads that are hard to finish, leaving a workpack with unsaved activity edits, photos that are hard to find, and crew moves that hide the role — are easier to handle.

What it does:

  • Export dialogs that make downloading files more obvious and dependable — finish a download in the same dialog instead of wondering whether the file started
  • Unsaved workpack activity edits are easier to identify — a clearer warning before you leave a page with unsaved activity changes
  • Expanded photo-library filters, with AI-generated captions surfaced more clearly — find site photos by what they show, not only by filename
  • Scheduler crew-move offers now show the relevant role more clearly — you can see which role the move applies to before you confirm
  • New forms provide more useful sample equipment data — get started faster when you create a form that needs plant examples

Where you'll find it:

  • Exports: The export / download dialog on the surfaces where you already download files.
  • Workpack activity edits: Workpacks when editing activities on a live workpack. See On-Site Execution.
  • Photo library: The photo / evidence library, with filters and AI captions. Caption generation can be enabled under SettingsPhoto search captions.
  • Crew-move offers: Scheduler when moving a crew. See Crews.
  • Sample equipment data: Forms when creating a new form that includes equipment examples.

Who benefits: Project admins exporting packs, site teams updating workpack activities and ops leads moving crews on the board.

Subcontractor Hub foundations

New foundations and access controls continue to prepare Subcontractor Hub for a smoother, more connected way to collaborate with subcontractors and manage organisational relationships.

What it does:

  • Foundations for organisational relationships — the groundwork for linking your organisation with subcontractors in a more connected way
  • Access controls for that collaboration — permission and access work so the right people can work together when the hub is ready

Where you'll find it: Subcontractor Hub foundations continue to land as that capability is prepared.

Who benefits: Head contractors and commercial leads who will manage subcontractor organisations from Assignar Pay, and project teams who need a clearer relationship between the parent organisation and the crews doing the work.

Security, privacy, and reliability

This week included broad improvements to account-level access controls, permissions, and data protection. These changes strengthen workspace isolation, support safer acting-user workflows, improve API-key protection, and make permission checks more consistent.

Data access and database performance were also refined behind the scenes, helping Assignar Pay stay secure, responsive, and dependable as organisations grow.

What it does:

  • Stronger workspace isolation — account data stays more clearly separated
  • Safer acting-user workflows — actions taken on someone else's behalf follow tighter access rules
  • Improved API-key protection — keys used for integrations are better protected. See API Keys.
  • More consistent permission checks — the same permission is applied more reliably across surfaces
  • Quieter performance work — data access and database performance refinements so the product stays responsive as you grow

Where you'll find it: Across sign-in, workspace access, SettingsAPI Keys, and everyday permission checks — no extra setup for these reliability updates.

Who benefits: Account owners and admins protecting tenant data, teams using API keys or acting-user integrations, and everyone relying on Assignar Pay during a busy pay or billing week.

Quality improvements

Additional fixes improved member actions, form and docket behaviour, timesheet processing, document handling, and payroll rule accuracy — reducing friction for administrators and field teams.

What it does:

  • Member actions — member management actions behave more reliably
  • Form and docket behaviour — forms and dockets behave more predictably in the paths teams already use
  • Timesheet processing — timesheets process more reliably through the pay run
  • Document handling — documents open and update with less friction
  • Payroll rule accuracy — pay rules apply more consistently on the timesheet

Where you'll find it: Across Members, Forms, Dockets, Timesheets / Payroll, and documents — no extra setup for these quality updates.

Who benefits: Administrators managing members, field teams submitting forms and dockets, and payroll admins processing the week.

Why it matters for construction teams

  • Project questions stay on the job, not in the inbox: An RFI is now a numbered workpack document. When a drawing conflicts with the spec, or a site condition does not match what was tendered, the question and the answer stay on the project workpack record — useful when an SOV line, variation, or invoice is challenged later.
  • Compliance files you can produce on the day: A clearer register in organisation settings shortens the path from “we need the insurance / SWMS / induction record” to the file itself — before a gate check, audit, or tender deadline.
  • Pay that follows the crew, the docket, and the award: Allowances with role links, labour crew rates declared on dockets, equipment prices from forms, and smarter minimum-engagement and RDO rules keep timesheets closer to the EBA and the site diary — fewer Monday corrections after a short call-in or an RDO week.
  • Less re-keying between the docket and the invoice: Automatic source-of-record resolution and more reliable cost-code and order information cut the admin between a signed docket and a billable line.
  • Fewer lost edits and missed downloads: Unsaved workpack activity warnings and clearer export dialogs stop a site update or a client pack from disappearing because someone left the page or could not find Download.
  • Crew moves you can confirm at a glance: Seeing the relevant role on a scheduler crew-move offer reduces the chance of shifting the wrong trade on a busy board.

Getting started

  • RFIs: Open WorkpacksNew workpack. Choose the client and project, leave the template blank, and select Request for Information (RFI). Add the question, who is being asked, and any attachments, then Save and issue. Raising, issuing, and closing an RFI needs Workpacks manage; viewing needs Workpacks view. See Requests for Information and Workpack permissions.
  • Compliance register: Open SettingsCompliance. Review the document register and confirm important records are visible.
  • Payroll allowances and role links: Open Pay Rates → a rule group → Allowance Rules. Process a timesheet that uses a linked role and confirm the allowance. See Allowance Rules.
  • Minimum engagement and RDO: In the same rule group, review Minimum Engagement and RDO Rules, then process a short shift and a week that should accrue RDO. See Minimum Engagement Rules and RDO Rules.
  • Dockets: Open Dockets. Confirm labour crew rates, cost codes, and that the source of record resolves without a manual match where it can. See Dockets.
  • Equipment pricing from forms: Submit or reopen a Form that captures equipment pricing and confirm the price is applied on the related review.
  • Exports: Start a download from a familiar export dialog and confirm Download finishes in place.
  • Workpack activity edits: Edit an activity on a live workpack, then try to leave the page and confirm unsaved changes are obvious. See On-Site Execution.
  • Photo library: Open the photo / evidence library. Use the expanded filters and confirm AI-generated captions are visible. Enable captions under SettingsPhoto search captions if they are off.
  • Scheduler crew-move: Open Scheduler and move a crew. Confirm the offer shows the relevant role. See Crews.
  • Sample equipment data: Create a new Form that includes equipment examples and confirm the sample data is more useful than a blank start.

Permissions: Workpacks use Workpacks view / Workpacks manage (see Workpack permissions). Scheduling uses the same access already required for Scheduler (see Setup & Access). Pay Rates, Dockets, Forms, Settings, and the photo library use the same access already required for those modules.
